Lending and Screening

All fees in this schedule of charges are in Australian dollars and are GST-inclusive. Export items are GST-free: please refer to the export fees.

Fees are effective from 1 July 2002. All fees are subject to change without notice.

Lending and Screening

These fees are also applicable to the National Film and Sound Archive Quality Cinema Lending Collection and the Kodak/Atlab Cinema Collection - premium-quality prints, suitable for screening at prestige events. The collections include significant feature films, documentaries, cinema advertisements and other material. Most of the prints are available on 35mm. A premium is charged for the use of these prints.

16mm and 35mm Screening Prints

  • Fees apply per screening, and include retrieval fees; rates negotiable for multiple films or screenings.
  • A shorts package comprises up to 50 minutes of short films.
  • Material lent is subject to copyright approval and availability, and copyright clearance is the responsibility of the borrower. Additional copyright fees may be levied by the copyright owner.
  • Cinema Collection prints are prime archival film copies in new or near new condition which attract a premium fee.
  • Outward freight fees are charged at a standard rate Australia-wide. This covers standard road transport, and the borrower is responsible for return freight. Urgent or exceptional freight requirements may attract an additional fee.
  • Freight costs for export loans apply on a case by case basis.
  • NFSA staff can provide curatorial advice for your program. Research fees of $54 per hour may apply. Please discuss with your National Film and Sound Archive contact.
