Australia's Prime Ministers

John Howard entered Federal Parliament in 1974, and held the portfolios of Business and
Consumer Affairs, Special Trade Negotiations, Treasurer and Minister assisting the Prime
Minister. In 1996 the Liberal-National Party Coalition under Howard was returned to office after
a landslide electoral defeat of Labor. Howard was Prime Minister until electoral defeat in 2007.
