Australia's Prime Ministers


John McEwen was a Member of the House of Representatives between 1934 and 1971. McEwen became Prime Minister following the death of Harold Holt in 1967 and served in this role for 23 days until John Gorton was elected Leader of the Liberal Party and Prime Minister. During his Parliamentary career he served in the Cabinets of five Heads of Government, holding the positions of Minister for Interior, External Affairs, Air and Civil Aviation, Commerce and Agriculture and Trade.
