Australia's Prime Ministers

Robert Menzies first entered Federal Parliament in 1934. He became leader of the United
Australia Party and Prime Minister in 1939 following the death in office of Joseph Lyons.
Following party dissention in 1941 he resigned as PM. Menzies became PM again in 1949 when
he won a Federal election as leader of the Liberal Party. He retained this position for a record 16
years, and retired from Federal politics in 1966.
