Synopsis

A political thriller loosely based on the Juanita Nielsen case, a Sydney woman who disappeared in 1975 at the height of her protest against inner-city development. Jessica Simmons returns home after a long stay overseas to Angel Street in East Balmain to find her father embroiled in a battle with between residents and corrupt property developers. When her father is killed, Jessica takes on the lead and with union leader, Elliot, exposes the illegal actions of the developers and links with organised crime.

Background

This was Anthony Buckley and Donald Crombie's third film together after making Caddie and The Irishman. The film received a special award at the 1982 Berlin Film Festival.
