Synopsis

A coming-of-age drama set in country New South Wales in 1962. Danny is the awkward fifteen year-old in love with his childhood sweetheart, the slightly older Freya, who is attracted to a trouble-making Trevor. Through the course of the film Danny closely watches the relationship between Freya and Trevor quickly blossom. Though left behind, Danny is protective of Freya and later discovers that she is the daughter of a prostitute that died giving birth to her in the 'haunted house' on the hill.

Won Best Film, Direction, Supporting Actor (Ben Mendelsohn) and Screenplay at the Australian Film Institute Awards in 1987.

Preservation

The new print will be processed from the 35mm colour interdupe and the soundtrack will be remastered from the 24 tracks to Dolby SR Digital.
